Why the Change?
These updates reflect Fortinet’s continued effort to streamline certification branding and align with the Network Security Expert (NSE) certification levels, which range from foundational (NSE 1–4) to expert (NSE 8). The refreshed naming convention makes it easier for learners and employers to understand each certification’s level and specialization focus.
By aligning FCP and FCSS exams with the NSE naming structure, Fortinet enhances the global recognition and clarity of its certifications across cybersecurity domains such as wireless networking, web application security, SIEM, email protection, endpoint management, and firewall administration.
What It Means for Candidates
If you are preparing for or currently hold one of the affected certifications, the exam content and requirements remain the same — only the exam names have been updated. Your credentials will automatically reflect the new naming convention once updated in Fortinet’s certification records.
These updates are part of Fortinet’s broader goal to simplify its certification roadmap, making it easier for professionals to navigate career progression from FCP (Professional) to FCSS (Specialist) and eventually to FCX (Expert) levels.
Fortinet’s 2025 certification updates reaffirm its commitment to delivering clear, consistent, and globally recognized cybersecurity certifications. Whether you’re pursuing the NSE 5 Secure Wireless LAN, NSE 6 FortiMail, or NSE 7 Enterprise Firewall certification, you can be confident that these updated names better represent your expertise and align with Fortinet’s evolving ecosystem.
